About the Cloud Solutions Architect Expert certification
The Cloud Solutions Architect Expert certification is the capstone credential of the Hootix cloud ladder. It is an exam-only, proctored-style assessment: there is no bundled course — you are expected to arrive with deep, hands-on architecture experience and demonstrate judgment, not recall. The exam is scenario-heavy and trade-off driven. Almost every question puts you in front of a real business constraint — an RTO/RPO target, a latency budget, a compliance mandate, a cost ceiling, a consistency requirement — and asks you to choose the best architecture among several plausible options, then understand why the tempting alternatives are inferior. Domains assessed at expert depth: complex multi-region and global architectures; advanced disaster recovery (RTO/RPO trade-offs, active-active, data-consistency on failover); migration and modernization strategy (the 6 Rs, strangler fig, large-scale data migration); advanced networking (transit gateways, private connectivity, hybrid links, global load balancing, DNS routing strategies); advanced security, zero-trust, compliance and encryption/key management; large-scale data architecture (lakehouse, streaming, partitioning, CAP/PACELC and consistency models); microservices and event-driven systems at scale (saga, idempotency, backpressure); performance and caching at scale; cost optimization and FinOps at scale; governance, landing zones and organization policy; and observability and SRE (SLI/SLO/error budgets). The credential is cloud-agnostic: principles transfer across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Candidates must already hold the Cloud Architecture Professional credential; this expert exam builds directly on it. Validity is 24 months.
