The Cloud Architecture Professional certification validates that you can design end-to-end cloud systems against real business constraints. You will apply the well-architected framework across its six pillars — operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization and sustainability — and turn them into concrete architecture decisions. The exam covers high-availability and multi-AZ/multi-region design, disaster-recovery strategies (backup & restore, pilot light, warm standby, active-active) with explicit RTO/RPO trade-offs, scaling and load-balancing patterns, VPC and hybrid networking, defense-in-depth and zero-trust security, data-store selection (SQL vs NoSQL, caching, partitioning, replication), microservices vs monolith, event-driven architectures, Infrastructure as Code, observability, FinOps cost optimization and the 6 Rs of migration. It is cloud-agnostic: the principles transfer across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Candidates should already hold the Cloud Practitioner Associate credential or equivalent hands-on experience.
