About the Cloud FinOps certification
An associate-level certification in Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) — the discipline of running the cloud as a team sport where engineering, finance, and operations share accountability for cost and value. You will master the FinOps lifecycle (Inform, Optimize, Operate) and apply it end to end: build cost visibility and allocation with a disciplined tagging strategy; run showback and chargeback so spend lands on the teams that drive it; rightsize over-provisioned resources; choose between on-demand, commitment-based discounts (reserved instances and savings plans), and spot/preemptible capacity; tier storage and tune autoscaling for cost; set budgets, alerts, and anomaly detection so surprises are caught early; reason in unit economics (cost per customer, per transaction, per feature) instead of raw bills; tame egress and data-transfer charges; control license and SaaS spend; and build a cost-aware engineering culture measured by the right KPIs. Every concept is cloud-agnostic and maps cleanly onto AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, so the judgement transfers wherever you work.
