Trading Foundations Certification

From price to position — the mechanics of executing and managing a trade

Key facts

About the Trading Foundations certification

A foundation-level certification that turns market knowledge into the practical mechanics of trading. Building on Financial Markets Foundations, you will master the full anatomy of a trade: going long or short, calculating profit and loss precisely, and the units traders measure moves in — pips, ticks, points, and lots. You will work through leverage and margin in depth, including the chain that leads to a margin call and forced liquidation, and learn how orders actually execute, why slippage happens, and how to choose between market and limit entries. The certification covers the complete position lifecycle — entry, management, and exit — the true cost of trading (spread, commissions, and fees), the discipline of a trading journal, and basic order management with stop-losses and take-profits. The exam rewards traders who can reason through real position scenarios, not just recite definitions.
