About the Calculus Professional certification
The Calculus Professional certification validates genuine working fluency in single- and multivariable calculus — not formula recall, but the ability to set up and solve problems the way scientists, engineers, economists and data professionals actually do. You will master limits and continuity (epsilon-delta intuition, limit laws, indeterminate forms and L'Hopital's rule); differentiation (the limit definition, the power, product, quotient and chain rules, implicit and logarithmic differentiation, and higher-order derivatives); and the applications of the derivative — tangent lines and linear approximation, related rates, optimization, curve sketching, the Mean Value Theorem and Newton's method. On the integral side you will command antiderivatives and the definite integral, Riemann sums, and both parts of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; the core techniques of integration (substitution, integration by parts, partial fractions and trigonometric substitution); the applications of integration (area between curves, volumes of revolution, arc length and average value); and improper integrals. The exam then reaches into sequences and series (the full battery of convergence tests, plus power, Taylor and Maclaurin series), parametric and polar calculus, the foundations of multivariable calculus (partial derivatives, gradients and double integrals) and an introduction to differential equations (separable and first-order linear). Every topic is assessed with worked, step-by-step problems. Candidates should already hold an Algebra & Pre-Calculus credential or equivalent fluency.
